MEET THE TEAM
Hi I'm Sam, dairy farmer and avid baker from Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales. Using milk from my family’s lovely herd of Friesian cows I make luxurious clotted cream, along with delicious farmhouse bakes to serve it with.
I used to work in finance in the city but I left when I met my husband Ben to help work on the family dairy farm, and start diversifying the business by producing our own dairy products. A complete change of scenery from living in the city but farming is a way of life and I love it here. When I'm not cooking in the Curlew Kitchen (or chasing our two small children!) you'll find me out on the farm, milking the cows, caring for the calves and helping out wherever I can.
The rest of our milk is sold through our family business The Home Farmer - we make Old Roan Wensleydale cheese and sell milk in glass bottles from our 2 milk vending machines.
We are based in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. We’re called Curlew Kitchen after the birds which can be found nesting in the area every Spring and Summer. They have a distinctive call; it's beautiful to hear. Winters in the Dales can be harsh, especially when outside working on the farm, so hearing the first curlew call of the year is always my favourite sign that Spring is on the way!
